The 1991 born rearguard did not have a point in the first five games of the season but has 34 points in 33 games since. The New Westminister resident is currently serving a two-game suspension for a blow to the head major penalty against the Vernon Vipers and will miss his first games of the season.

The 5'10" 180 pounder discusses a well needed break, his suspension, getting an opportunity to play, and hating watching games from the stands.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager & Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses being outworked, continuing to win special team battles, the Clinton Atkinson suspension, the return of Morgan Zulinick, and Cody Michelle's health.

Reid/Kehler/Ferner Audio

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Brad Reid was acquired from the Coquitlam Express on Decemeber 14th for future considerations. The 1990 born right handed shot has played in three games with his new team and at least a point in each one for a total of four altogether. With Coquitlam the Delta resident collected 14 goals and 31 points in 33 contests. The 6'1" 175 pounder is in his fourth year in the BCHL after a year with the Express in Burnaby, one with the Vees in Penticton, and his rookie campaign in Victoria with the Grizzlies. Last season the Rochester Institute of Technology commit had a breakout year with 27 goals and 55 points in 60 games after a total of 28 points in his first two seasons in the league.

Brad has fit in nicely on one of the Silverbacks top lines alongside Dave Killip and Brett Knowles.

Reid discusses the holiday break, asking out of Coquitlam, his four years in the BCHL, playing alongside Killip & Knowles, and why he choose RIT to continue his playing career.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager & Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses the holiday break, recruiting, being out-goaltended against Westside, and the return of Morgan Zulinick.

Vernon Vipers General Manager & Head Coach is in his fourth campaign with the franchise. Last season his team had a remarkable year with a 51-6-0-3 regular season first place record followed by their second of back-to-back National Titles after in 2008/2009 another first place finish with a 42-14-1-3 mark. In his first season at the helm Vernon finished fourth in the Interior Conference at 36-20-2-2 and lost out in the Conference Semi-Finals to the eventual BCHL champion Penticton Vees.

The 45-year-old also spent four seasons on the coaching staff with the Kamloops Blazers from 2002-2006 including one term as the head coach. Mark played his junior hockey with the Kamloops organization for three season from 1982-1985. The Regina born defenceman went onto play 91 games in the NHL most notably with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks along with 482 in the AHL before wrapping up his playing career in 2001.

Ferner discusses the holiday break, recruiting, his team turning a corner, playing in 14 overtime games, and Kirby Halcrow making Blake Voth better.

Killip/Kehler/Yopyk Audio

Salmon Arm Silverbacks forward Dave Killip has been red hot of late with 27 points in his last 21 games after starting the season with only eight points in his first 16 contests.

The 1991 born center has been paired on the same line all season with Brett Knowles and has now played three games with newly acquired forward Brad Reid. Previously the duo were winged by Jarryd Ten Vaanholt, Brandon Mistal, and Devin Muller.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager & Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses a rude wakeup call, not learning a lesson from previous blown leads, having his backend settle the game down, his team responding to physical play, and championship teams bouncing back after back-breaking losses.

Westside Warriors General Manager & Head Coach Darren Yopyk discusses what he said to his team in the 2nd intermission, playing with inertia, being shorthanded 41 more times than on the powerplay, his elite defenceman Michael King, going 0-4 against Merritt this season, and having 14 forwards that can all contribute.

Reardon/Kehler/Yopyk Audio

Salmon Arm Silverbacks defenceman Jayson Reardon is playing his best hockey of the season and is coming off a two assist and one fight game against the Nanaimo Clippers. The 1990 born physical Lumby resident has now played in 11 contests after missing 11 games due to injury. Paired with Charlie Vasaturo the 6'1" 210 pounder has found good chemistry despite only playing together for a limited time last season.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager & Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses a couple of players breaking out of slumps, getting exactly what he expected out of Brad Reid, a lackluster third period, not minding being shorthanded five more times than Nanaimo, and having the worst penalty kill at home & second best on the road.

Westside Warriors General Manager and Head Coach Darren Yopyk discusses giving up a couple of one-goal leads in the third period, injury updates on Grayson Downing, Tyler Krause, & Izaak Berglund, a busy stretch before Christmas, the play of new faces Stefan Nicholishen & Tyler French, getting goals from the backend, and some terrible goaltending.

Overall the 1992 born center has 14 points in his last ten contests. The Battleford, Saskatchewan resident started his rookie season with eight points in his first seven games but then hit a slump with five points in his next 18 contests before the recent hot streak.

Recently the 5'9" 150 pounder started recieving powerplay time after very little earlier this season.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager and Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses taking the season series with Penticton, Bryce Gervais' strong play, strength down the middle, Devin Muller's status, acquiring Brad Reid, and Christmas time!

Nanaimo Clippers Assistant Coach Michael Olson discusses an early morning, nine wins in their previous 14, different styles of play in the two conferences, battling through injuries, and the play of his goaltenders.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager and Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses his team staying out of the box, his motto for overtime, and dressing 11 forwards along with seven defenceman.

Penticton Vees' General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson discusses battling the ref, the strong play of Kyle Mountain & Tyler Hlookoff, a 32% powerplay at home while 16% on the road, and one last roster spot to fill.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks 2 @ Penticton Vees 2

Night 68

In Penticton the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (21-11-1) and the Vees (23-10-1-1) each recorded their first tie of the season with a 2-2 draw. Three of the four goals of the game were scored in the first period with Salmon Arm holding 1-0 and 2-1 leads with a pair of goals from Bryce Gervais. The 1992 born center's second marker was goal of the year material with a Pavel Datsyuk-esk deke to finish off his breakaway. Josh Manson assisted on both goals thanks to great up-ice passes. After Penticton tied the game in the second period Salmon Arm had four powerplays including one in overtime but didn't score and finished one-for-six on the PP while the Peaches scored on their lone powerplay in the opening frame. Both goaltenders were sensational with both Kris Moore and Joel Rumpel each recording 38 saves. The Silverbacks were a perfect 3-0 in extra time coming in while the Vees were 4-1.

Mills/Kehler/Harbinson Audio

Salmon Arm Silverbacks defenceman Kevin Mills has now played
in three games since being acquired from the AJHL. The 1990 born rearguard has formed a formidable pair with roommate alongside Clinton Atkinson. The Princeton University commit passes above average and is very agile for a 200 pounder.

Salmon Arm Silverbacks General Manager and Head Coach Tim Kehler discusses not making the other team's goaltender the first star, a well conditioned team, struggling in the second period, a strong bounce-back game from his netminder, and needing more from a pair of forwards.

Penticton Vees' General Manager and Head Coach Fred Harbinson discusses keeping the goals against down, Joel Rumpel finding a groove, Myles McCauley & drawing major junior players from out east, and a mountain of a line with Kyle Mountain, Joey Holka, and Curtis Loik.
