Stuck late at night on a dark road with little traffic, Grizzlies staffers Dan Webb and Rick Burke finally hopped a ride on a logging truck back to civilization to try to find transportation for the team. Two hours later, with players and equipment loaded on a bus lent by the
Summerland Junior B team, the Grizzlies were in Castlegar, where there were enough rooms for 12 people.
They arrived at 7:30 a.m., slept until noon, had lunch, and slept 'til 3 p.m. After hitching a ride on a bus being used by a visiting team from Quesnel to get to the arena, the Grizzlies pulled off a 4-3 win over the Vees, one of the top teams in the B.C. Hockey League.
