The SilverBacks hardly brought their A game.
The Vipers (13-6) got stellar play from a host of rookies, got some extraordinary goaltending from Lucas Gore and out-hustled the SilverBacks in a 6-3 victory.
“This was our first loss to Vernon this year and it definitely had a very different tone compared to our previous game against them,” said Salmon Arm head coach Ty Davidson. “The Vipers really came out to play tonight and we weren't prepared for them. We didn't come out to play mentally at all. Our only bright light was getting all our goals on special teams (two on the powerplay and one shorthanded). The five-on-five play was what killed us. Vernon was just hungrier for the win tonight period, plain and simple.”
