Caps start strong, cool off Grizzlies

"The first period was awful and we weren't ready to play . . . this after a great and gritty performance Friday night [2-1 victory over the Coastal Conference-leading Nanaimo Clippers]," said Victoria head coach and GM Jackson Penney.

Billed as the Island Experience, the Swedes begin their tour Dec. 30 at Bear Mountain Arena against the Grizzlies and New Year's Eve in Powell River against the Kings. After the Swedish youngsters watch Team Sweden West, aka the Vancouver Canucks, play the New York Rangers on Jan. 3 at GM Place, their tour concludes Jan. 4 against the Clippers at Frank Crane Arena in Nanaimo and Jan. 5 at the Stick in Duncan against the Capitals.
