Pighin to Chilliwack/Briard to D.L.

Evan Pighin had an agreement with Garry and Ty Davidson to stick around for a full season but with them no longer around he choose to reconsider his options. Give credit to the Chilliwack Bruins organization as they have strongly pursued Pighin for the last two months. They were also smart enough to add Pighin to their 50 man protective list a couple weeks ago with other WHL teams also going after the BCHL's leading sniper. Pighin is a great kid and I hope only the best for him with the Bruins.

The Silverbacks took another hit today during practice as Travis Briard lost an edge and went into the boards hard, breaking his ankle. The injury was reminiscent of Marco Sturm's a few years ago while a member of the San Jose Sharks. With Derek Lee and Damon Kipp away at the World Junior "A" Challenge, Colin Lidster injured, and Jeff Smith recovering from his own injury it leaves the team with currently only nine forwards and six defensemen healthy.
