Monk Returns from WJAC Camp

Salmon Arm Silverbacks second year defenceman Josh Monk has returned to Salmon Arm after attending the World Junior "A" Challenge Team Canada West Evaluation Camp on Monday and Tuesday September 27 and 28 in Penticton, British Columbia.

The 1992 born Langley resident was on Team Red which lost 6-5 in overtime on Monday and won 7-3 on Tuesday. Monk recorded two assists and four penalty minutes.

With a 22 man roster it is likely Team Canada West will carry seven or eight defenseman and Monk was one of 12 rearguards invited to camp with two returning from the 2009 team in Joey LaLeggia '92 (Penticton) and Ben Gallacher '92 (Camrose). Of the 12, one was born in 1991, eight in 1992, and three in 1993. The team can have a mamimum of five 1991 born players with three 1991 goaltenders and nine 1991 forwards invited to camp. It is also still possible for a defenceman to make the team that was not invited to the evaluation.

The final Team Canada West Roster will be named on October 15th with the W.J.A.C. starting on Monday November 8th in Penticton.
