In Salmon Arm at the Sunwave Centre the Silverbacks (5-1-0-0) used two late first period power-play goals to defeat the Prince George Spruce Kings (0-3-0-2) 5-3. Tied 1-1 the Apes took the lead for good with three minutes left in the first frame after goals 29 seconds apart on the man advantage. The two teams swapped goals early in the first period and also in the third to round out the scoring. Salmon Arm finished two-for-two on the power-play while Devin Gannon scored twice and added an assist.
In Surrey at the South Arena the Trail Smoke Eaters (4-2-0-0) snapped the Eagles (4-2-0-0) four game winning streak with a 3-1 victory. After scoring 21 goals in their previous three games the Eagles were held to only one by Kiefer Smiley who made 27 saves. Scoring two first period goals to take the lead Trail was also solid on the penalty kill finishing seven-for-eight.
In Duncan at Island Savings Centre the Cowichan Valley Capitals (1-3-0-0) won their first game of the season over the Westside Warriors (2-3-0-0) by a 3-2 final. Scoring a goal in each period the Capitals received 48 saves from Alexandre Peck. The only two markers to get by the goaltender were both on the power-play with Westside getting nine opportunities in total.
