In Salmon Arm at the Sunwave Centre the Trail Smoke Eaters (3-2-0-0) handed the Silverbacks (4-1-0-0) their first loss of the season with a 5-1 victory. Making his first British Columbia Hockey League start Matt LaRose was excellent making 27 saves but unfortunately had his shutout bid spoiled with three minutes remaining. Up front Trail's top line was solid with Scott Jacklin collected three assists and Sam Mellor potting two goals.
In Powell River at Hap Parker Arena the Surrey Eagles (4-1-0-0) completed a weekend sweep with a 6-5 victory over the Kings (3-2-0-0). Once again the Eagles' power-play and top line were terrific with Surrey finishing three-for-three on the man advantage and Richard Vanderhoek recording a hat trick along with one assist. Scoring 21 goals the Eagles collected three wins over as many days and have now won four games in a row.
