In Quesnel at the Twin Arenas the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (8-1) scored four goals in the first period to defeat the Millionaires (3-5) 5-1. Key to the 'Backs success was once again special teams and goaltending as they finished two-for-six on the power play, six-for-six on the penalty, and received 32 saves from Kris Moore.
In West Kelowna at Royal LePage Place the Westside Warriors (4-4-1) defeated the Trail Smoke Eaters (8-4) for the third time this season with a 9-1 victory. After giving up a goal 15 seconds in Westside went on to score three in every period including a five point night from captain Alex Grieve.
In Vernon at the Wesbild Centre the Cowichan Valley Capitals (3-6) snapped a three game losing streak by defeating the Vipers (4-4-0-2) 4-2. Trailing 2-0 a pair of second period power play goals got Vernon back even before the Capitals scored three minutes apart in the final frame to restore their lead. Derek Dun made 39 saves helping Cowichan Valley kill off seven of nine power plays against.
In Prince George at the Coliseum the Surrey Eagles (7-4) scored five time in the opening period to defeat the Spruce Kings (1-7-0-2) 9-5. Tied 1-1 Surrey scored four unanswered in six minutes to close out the first. Prince George twice battled back to within two at 5-3 and 7-5 but both times the Eagles responded with two of their own goals.
In Coquitlam at the Sports Centre the Langley Chiefs (7-1-0-2) excelled on the power play to defeat the Express (5-3-0-1) 4-2. Down 2-1 the Chiefs tallied on the power play once in each period to improve their road record to 7-0-0-1. St. Cloud State University committed defenceman Tim Daly assisted on three of the Langley goals.
In Victoria at Bear Mountain Arena the Powell River Kings (6-3-1) broke open a tie game in the third period to defeat the Grizzlies (3-4-0-1) 4-1. Trailing 1-0 the Kings scored late in the first period to tie the game and were the only team to score the rest of the way with three tallies in the third.
In Port Alberni at Weyerhaeuser Arena the Alberni Valley Bulldogs (5-1-1) scored with two minutes left to defeat the Nanaimo Clippers (1-4-1-2) 5-4. Erasing a two goal deficit the Clippers tied the game early in the third period at three. Later in the frame after a Bulldogs shorthanded goal Nanaimo once again tied the game with five minutes left on the power play only to have Alberni Valley go ahead for good on a power play of their own three minutes later. For the Bulldogs it was their fourth one-goal victory of the season.
