Night 24

In Duncan the Cowichan Valley Capitals (5-9) erased a 2-1 deficit with four unanswered goals to defeat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (10-4) 5-2. Trailing by one Cowichan scored a goal late in the first period, two late in the second, and one into an empty net to round out the scoring. Cowichan's top line was dominant as 1990 born players Jordan Grant, Mike Hammond, and Tyler Matheson combined for 10 of their team's 14 points. In net 1993 born and former Valley West Hawk Derek Dun settled in as the game went along and ended with 36 stops.

In the ‘Rit the Centennials (1-9-0-3) tied the game with 34 seconds left but eventually lost 3-2 in double overtime to the Penticton Vees (12-4). Trailing 2-0 after 40 minutes the Cents went to work in the third scoring a little over a minute into the frame. Shortly after the Peaches seventh power play the game was ended 33 seconds into the second extra session for the Vees' seventh consective win. Garnering only two man-advantages Merritt rode a strong 34 save debut from Lino Chimienti.

In Trail the Smoke Eaters (9-5-0-1) rode 44 saves from Kiefer Smiley to a 3-2 victory over the Vernon Vipers (7-5-1-2). After allowing the opening goal Trail scored thrice in the final half of the first period and carried a 3-1 lead half way through the third when Vernon got to within one. Smiley was exceptionally sharp in the second frame when his team was outshot 21-4 yet no goals were scored.

In Coquitlam the Westside Warriors (6-6-1-1) scored three times in the second period to defeat the Express (8-5-0-1) 4-3. Down 2-1 after surrendering two first period power play goals the Warriors tied the game in the middle stanza, fell back behind two minutes later, tied the contest again two minutes later, went ahead four minutes after that, and held the Express scoreless in the final frame.

In Powell River two of the top teams in the league needed overtime as the Langley Chiefs (10-1-0-2) won their seventh straight game with a 3-2 victory over the Kings (8-3-1-1). Jumping out to a 2-0 first period lead the Chiefs surrendered two second period goals and played the final period scoreless before the winner two minutes into extra time. 1991 born Bowling Green committ Wyatt Galley was excellent making 45 saves in the win.

In Victoria the Grizzlies (7-4-0-1) extended their winning streak to four games with a 5-2 truimph over the Nanaimo Clippers (3-5-1-2). Using three goals in the span of three minutes in the first period the Grizz took a commanding lead and recieved contributions from their newest players as Dustin Johnson scored twice and Graeme Strukoff had two points.
