The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have acquired forward Michael Krgovich and future considerations from the Surrey Eagles for defenceman Josh Monk.
So far this season Michael Krgovich has four goals and eight points in 13 games. Last season the 1990 born forward was a BCHL All-Star and had 17 ginos and 53 points in 56 games. Residing in Coquitlam started his junior career in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels where in 2007/2008 he managed four goals and seven points in 63 games. The 2008/2009 season started out for the 6'0" 180 pounder as a member of the Chilliwack Chiefs where he had three goals and eight points in 29 games before joining Surrey where he finished the season with eight goals and 24 points in 32 games. Krgovich is also an accomplished Lacrosse player as this summer he won the Junior National Championship (Minto Cup) with the Coquitlam Adanacs.
Krgovich has a chance to play big time minutes and be a go-to-guy amongst a younger core of forwards in Salmon Arm compared to a veteran laden group in Surrey.
Josh Monk had not played in the last six Silverbacks' games after requesting a trade. In 12 games this season the 1992 born Langley resident had two goals and eight points while also attending Team Canada West's evaluation camp at the end of September. Last season the 5'10" 185 pounder had two goals and 15 points in 50 games. Prior to junior Josh spent two seasons with the Valley West Hawks in the BC Major Midget League where he 2008/2009 he had 12 goals and 31 points in 39 games and in 2007/2008 he posted two goals and ten points in 32 contests.
Monk goes to a team starving for blueliners in the Eagles who have been playing with only five listed d-men.
