The Salmon Arm Silverbacks have acquired goaltender Chase Martin along with future considerations from the Spruce Grove Saints of the Alberta Junior Hockey League for forward Taylor Fauchoux.
Chase Martin appeared in 23 games for the Calgary Canucks in the AJHL last season where he went 9-8-2 with a 3.32 goals against average and .897 save percentage. The 1992 born netminder also played in two games for the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League where he picked up a loss and posted a 3.61 G.A.A. and .881 save %. The 5'9" 165 pounder was a 2007 fifth round draft pick of the Chiefs. This season the Medicine Hat, Alberta resident joined the Prince George Cougars of the WHL but did not appear in a game and also played in exhibition for the Kelowna Rockets.
Taylor Fauchoux played in 12 games for the Silverbacks collecting one goal and four points. The 1992 born Prince Albert, Saskatchewan resident is fresh off a phenomenal season with the his hometown Midget AAA Mintos where in 43 games he had 32 goals and 74 points. The year before the 5'9" 165 pounder recorded 14 goals and 31 points in 42 contests.
In a second deal the Silverbacks acquired defenceman James Friedel from the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL for future considerations.
The 1991 born rearguard has appeared in 15 games this season with a power play goal and three points along with 40 penalty minutes. Last season the Kamloops resident played in 38 games and registered five even strength goals with 57 PIMs. Back in 2008/2009 the 6'1" 170 pounder played for the Kamloops Storm in the Kootenay International Junior "B" Hockey League and was a teammate of Silverbacks forward Devin Gannon where in 50 games he had four goals and eight points along with 127 PIMs. In 2007/2008 James was a teammate of Silverbacks forward Brandon Mistal with the Thompson Blazers of the BC Major Midget League where he had two goals and eight points in 40 games. Friedel becomes the fourth Kamloops resident on the team.
